Dormant
The Well waits without promising that every future inside it can be saved. Reaching it gives the player a decision, not an automatic reward.
A Future Well is a wound in reality where several possible histories remain alive at once. Armies fight around it because choosing what the Well becomes can save a city, reveal a hidden route, or erase something the world may never recover.
The Meridian Compact builds with visible engineering. The Kharuun Assemblies cultivate mineral-organic forms. The Future Well uses neither language. Its six broken pylons hold an impossible central light while incomplete rings turn around a space that should not exist.
From the strategy camera, the broad crown identifies the objective. The center and rings show its condition. Ground paths reveal whether possibility is being drained, held, or bent into another road.
Each capture below comes directly from the current Unreal Engine Metal build. Color supports the message, but ring position, core shape, and ground geometry carry it first.

The Well waits without promising that every future inside it can be saved. Reaching it gives the player a decision, not an automatic reward.

Harvest takes power now. The structure folds toward its center as the available possibility is consumed. In the current prototype, a successful 180-tick telegraph grants 500 Dawn and leaves the Well permanently collapsed.

Preserve keeps the Well open, but the choice is not automatically gentle. Someone must hold the ground. The current prototype returns 15 Dawn every 300 ticks and provides a 1,400 cm intelligence radius while controlled.

Reshape borrows a road, bridge, cavern, or cover line from a future that almost existed. The current prototype costs 120 Dawn, commits after 180 ticks, and keeps the authored change open for 1,800 ticks.
Ticks are deterministic simulation units, not a promise about final match pacing. Values are current source data and remain subject to balance and usability testing.
The opening campaign records what the player chose and carries that fact into later operations. It changes routes, priorities, and what each side believes the earlier decision meant.
Mara Vey recovers a lost archive, reaches the Glass Scar Well, commits one protocol, and withdraws. Destroying everything is not the objective.
The first irreversible choice is written to the campaign record: Harvest, Preserve, or Reshape.
Oruun enters from the Kharuun side. The earlier choice changes the available terrain and where memory can be recovered.
The same event becomes evidence in another culture’s history, not a clean good-or-evil result.
Lume Reach cannot power every district at once. The Well decision changes which continuity priority—life support, transit, or archive—comes first.
The player must reconnect real districts; victory is measured by powered systems and survival.
Only one Glass Scar crossing remains available. The Kharuun must move a Waystone, establish listening infrastructure, and recover a shard along that inherited route.
Harvest opens Ash Cut, Preserve leaves the Buried Causeway, and Reshape creates the Folded Verge.
A treaty operation buckles under unresolved pressure while Meridian personnel synchronize two interfaces and protect both witnesses through a fixed survival window.
The operation consumes the same four-record history. It opens the campaign’s larger mystery, but the current mission does not identify the attacker.
Talar follows an erased census into one of three inherited records: the Foundry Roll, Missing Quarter, or Folded Register. He must locate the evidence before a worker can restore archive power.
Both civilian proxies must reach shelter before Talar extracts the record. The evidence proves that names are missing—not who removed them, why they vanished, or whether one hidden enemy is responsible.
The first Well decision selects Cinder Hollow, Held Hollow, or Folded Hollow. Oruun relocates a Waystone, raises listening infrastructure, positions two witnesses, and reaches their confluence.
The result records an observed correspondence between the census absence and communal-memory hollow. It does not prove cause, hidden authorship, or a Choir identity.
The inherited choice selects one of three echo geometries. Talar, a relay worker, and two distinct witnesses make reciprocal contact repeatable through ordinary movement and construction.
The contact is actionable inside the authored operation, but Mission 08 does not establish a unified Choir identity or grant Choir command.
The inherited Well doctrine sets Mara’s authority site and recommends Life Support, Transit, or Archive without forcing the allocation. Exactly two districts can receive the finite reserve.
The intact unpowered district remains visible and enters the ninth record. This establishes one local decision, not wider-city recovery or civilian-survival evidence.
The founding doctrine selects public contact and Mission 09’s deferred district becomes the local liability. Oruun re-roots the Waystone, raises two Listening Spines, and commits a separate Harvest, Preserve, or Reshape protocol at the Lume Well.
The tenth record preserves that new Lume decision. Mara remains off-map, the Choir is public contact rather than commandable in Mission 10, and Meridian opposition does not prove Compact-wide action.
The founding route, Mission 09’s exact powered-district pair, and Mission 10’s Lume protocol produce 27 plans. Oruun’s Kharuun force links neutral district interfaces, attests neutral public evidence endpoints, applies only the recorded protocol, and rallies.
The eleventh record proves one bounded local coalition assembly—not mixed-faction command, Choir authority in Mission 11, hidden trust, or a modeled survivor roster.
Oruun and an independent Kharuun verifier establish paired readback, workers complete two exact links near the inherited district inputs, and a separate Future Well accepts only the recorded Lume protocol. After a 300-tick stability hold, the scouts observe both district sites.
The twelfth record establishes local protocol activation and paired readback only—not population restoration, permanence, civilian survival, consent, trust, mixed-faction command, or playable Rhyse.
The exact twelve-record ledger carries the founding doctrine, powered-district pair, and recorded Lume protocol into paired public-record readback. Oruun’s Kharuun force links the neutral Crownfall public index and observes two separate assembly witness sites.
The Lume protocol is inherited as a fact, but this operation offers no selectable Well. Its thirteenth record establishes only bounded public readback, linkage, and observation—not responsibility, authorship, trust, consent, civilian or survivor state, mixed-faction command, or Choir authority in Mission 13.
The exact thirteen-record ledger carries the recorded protocol into a Hollow Choir command crisis. A Possible voice, a Manifest voice, and Neme occupy separate inherited sites before Shared Resolution permits a Phase Anchor and a 160-fixed-tick hold.
Mission 14 offers no new Well choice. Its fourteenth record proves only the bounded command-crisis contract—not the Choir’s final fate, a permanent unified identity, broad faction balance, or campaign completion.
The exact fourteen-record ledger carries the founding doctrine, powered-district pair, and recorded Lume protocol into an explicit earned set of Restoration, Controlled Stabilization, Extinguishment, and Open Evolution. One selected resolution requires its own conduit and fixed-step hold.
The fifteenth record stores one named ending, its availability mask, and its stable plan key. One plan-07 Controlled Stabilization route is complete in automation; unchosen endings and wider social consequences are not inferred.
A landmark this important cannot depend on tiny details or a single color. Its state must survive camera distance, motion settings, display variation, and the visual noise of a battle.
Collapsed, expanded, and crossed ring layouts remain different in grayscale and at the normal RTS camera angle.
Gold, orange, cyan, and violet reinforce meaning without carrying the whole message.
Reduced-motion mode freezes the orbit and pulse while preserving the selected state’s geometry.
